Katia from Casablanca

We discovered this great new local resource for Moroccan furnishings and decor (she sells cooking supplies and offers cooking lessons, and offers event planning, too!). The shop is Casablanca Market in Mountain View, CA ( http://www.casablancamarket.com/index.html) and the owner's name is Katia. She is a kind and fun woman; very helpful. She's also planning to make a trip to Morocco soon, and she's taking requests for products to bring back. We always have a need for Moroccan designs in our gardens, and have asked her to shop for the following:
  • statuary
  • outdoor wall hangings
  • outdoor lanterns
  • fountains
  • pots-- 2.5' to 4' tall, unique designs, colors and patterns
  • outdoor carpets or floor covers
  • outdoor fabrics
  • outdoor umbrellas
  • outdoor furnishings
  • tiles

We often design Moroccan gardens or a Bohemian hybrid which incorporates Moroccan designs, so Katia's shop is a fantastic find. She offers mostly indoor products, but many could work for covered or protected patios. Here are some of our current faves.
A one of a kind hand woven rug in the tick pile style of the Atlas. We love the simple Berber designs and motifs of this rug. It is all wool and 7' x 3.5'.
We found this gorgeous mosaic fountain for Vicki and Jim's garden, a poolside Moroccan healing garden.

We love the intricate carvings of this bench; and paired with lush fabrics and pillows, you feel transported to exotic places.

I've already returned several times, and recently purchased this henna sconce light for our bedroom which is currently under reconstruction. The light cast is a soft orange glow-- perfect for a bedroom in desperate need of romance after two little ones joined the family.
